ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL AND GOVERNANCE
oEnergy contributes from both civil society and the private sector to the construction of a more sustainable future. We contribute to fulfilling the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for the year 2030 through our social, environmental, and good governance commitment. We are confident that the collective effort can generate a significant impact on the quality of life for future generations.
We are part of Global Compact
To formalize our commitment to contribute to the achievement of the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030,
since September 2023, oEnergy has been a part of Global Compact, a United Nations initiative
that brings together companies from around the world seeking to align their
operations and strategies with Ten Principles in the areas of Human Rights,
Labor Relations, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.
We will publish our concrete actions in an annual report. The first edition will be available soon.
ENVIRONMENT
We aim to contribute to generating the energy Chile needs for
sustainable development. Wherever our projects are located, we
will protect the environment, existing ecosystems, and
biodiversity.
In addition to complying with national regulations, oEnergy
complies with the International Finance Corporation’s
Performance Standards (IFC) on Environmental and Social
Sustainability.
AGRISOLAR PROJECTS
At oEnergy, we constantly search for the most sustainable and
efficient ways to generate photovoltaic energy using the latest
technologies.
Taking into consideration the high agricultural use of Chilean
soils, we have researched and set out to implement
agrivoltaic
technology. This allows agriculture and energy generation to
develop on the same property. This means we can better
preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems on our sites.
Over the last two years, we have developed and built the
first
agrivoltaic project in Chile’s Small-Scale Distributed
Generation (PMGD in its Spanish acronym) segment. “Ayla
Solar” is located in the district of Rancagua in the O’Higgins
region and has an output of 9MWp.
COMMUNITIES
As part of our comprehensive development approach , we gather information about the social environment in each of our future plants early on. Here we identify the different stakeholders and their interests and provide them with the information required to understand and know the project. Thus, from day one, we establish communication channels adapted to the reality of the community. We design and implement specific community relation plans for the construction and operation stages of each project. We implement socially differentiated management in line with the International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards (IFC) on Environmental and Social Sustainability and national regulations.
NOTEWORTHY PROJECTS
We are collaborating with educational communities
We want to contribute our grain of sand towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal Nº4, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. To this end, we have created initiatives that contribute to students’ learning in the educational communities of the regions where our projects are located. We aim to provide them with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to promote sustainable development.
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
We believe in continuously improving our work through policies and procedures that contribute to our culture of compliance, transparency, and probity.
SOCIAL
At oEnergy, we are proud of the close and trusting relationships we have built with our neighbors and the different stakeholders who make up the communities where our projects are installed.
